Featured is a very Good copy of the hardcover book "The Evans Guide for Counseling Dog Owners" by Job M. Evans Foreword by Michael W. Fox Introduction by Carol Benjamin 1985 A Howell Dog Book of Distinction Hardcover 6 inches by 9 1/4 inches 160 pages. No writing, tears or highlighting.(from the back cover)" ...to improve the human/ dog relationship."
Every veterinarian and technician, every dog trainer, groomer, kennel and pet shop operator and every serious fancier is frequently asked for individual help to improve the human/dog relationship. Often the need goes beyond a bit of friendly advice from an expert source.
Counseling - structured guidance to establish a happy relationship or return to one - is becoming the recognized , means of developing a healthy interchange between people and their dogs. Author-trainer Job Michael Evans presents the entire subject for you, the professional. He explains the nature and responsibility of counseling, interviewing and evaluating prospective clients and dogs, teaching specific techniques and correcting problem behavior. This important aid in helping people and their "I have this problem with my dog." dogs is presented so you can apply it most effectively.
There is sensible optimism in THE EVANS GUIDE TO COUNSELING DOG OWNERS. Harsh training, drastic corrections and euthanasia are not the only ways to solve dog-related problems. This splendid book shows how dog owning can be the pleasure it should always be.
Job Michael Evans can claim a list of credits in the dog fancy that would be impressive for a much older person. He was, for 11 years, Brother Job of New Skete Monastery. Here he bred German Shepherds and trained hundreds of dogs of all breeds. In addition, he co-authored How to Be Your Dog's Best Friend: A Training Manual for Dog Owners, an award-winning book that has enjoyed tremendous success with the dog-owning public.
In 1983, he left the Monastery and established the school he whimsically calls "Patience of Job: Training for Dogs and People." While developing the school and continuing his writing career, Evans reviews books for Dog Fancy magazine, teaches seminars and conducts lectures on many facets of the dog fancy.
A dynamic personality, Evans is also on the advisory board of the Humane Society of New York and has also been featured on television's PM Magazine. He has been the subject of an article in the prestigious New Yorker magazine and is known and respected wherever people and dogs interact.
