    Description

For auction is a wonderful silver plate set made by The Wilcox Silver Plate Company of Meriden, CT. I have a nice three piece set consisting of a Creamer, Covered Sugar and Celery Vase. The Creamer measures 4 1/2" tall and 4 3/4" in diameter outside handle measurement. The Covered Sugar measures 4 1/2" tall and is 6 1/2" in diameter outside handles measurement. The Celery Vase measures
4 1/2" tall and 5 5/8" in diameter outside handles measurement.
The body of each piece has an embossed pattern of flowers and leaves in high relief (Repousse-O
rnamentation of metal in relief by pressing or hammering on the reverse side)
while the lip displays a ruffled design. Each piece has heavy Victorian Style handle or handles. The entire set sits on a flat bottom. The etched detail in the Flowers and veining in the leaves is just outstanding.
Each piece is considered to be in very good condition as there are no cracks or major dents to the metal. The covered sugar lid has a minor ding in the top and can be easily push back in place with a tool. The set is tarnished and show signs of use. Each piece in the set is signed and I will list what each one below has for a mark.
Covered Sugar- Signed with the Circular Mark with Quadruple Plate along the top and Meriden, Conn on the bottom. There is also the Pattern number 5021 and the capital letters "BC" just under Meriden, Conn.
    Creamer-
Signed with the Circular Mark with Quadruple Plate along the top and Meriden, Conn on the bottom. There is also the Pattern number 5321 and the capital letters "BC" just above Quadruple Plate. There is also the word "GILT" under the pattern number.
    Celery Vase-
Signed with the Circular Mark with Quadruple Plate along the top and Meriden, Conn on the bottom. There is also the Pattern number 5321 and the capital letters "BC" just above Quadruple Plate.
The Wilcox Silver Plate Co. has a history dating back to 1865. It was organized in Meriden, Conn by Jedediah and Horace Wilcox
    . The
company was based in Meriden, Connecticut and was one of the original firms that helped form the International Silver Company in 1898. Purchase with confidence as this set when cleaned and polished  will enhance any Victorian Style Decor. This set was made Circa 1880-1885.
